Counselling
I provide counselling services to individuals, couples and families seeking support for a wide range of issues and concerns. My areas of practice and clinical interest include, but are not limited to:
Family Relationships
I have extensive training and experience working with families. I have a special interest in working with adult siblings and their parents to help them manage their relationships with one another, as well as cope with issues such as eldercare. I also enjoy working with families who are struggling with the specific challenges that may come with adolescent children.
Couple Relationships
I provide counselling for couples at all stages of their relationship including:
- preparation for marriage or long term commitment
- navigating the challenges that come with change and major decisions
- dealing with issues of trust
- making decisions about separation or divorce
- renegotiating the relationship after the last child has left the nest
Depression and Anxiety
Mood changes can have an impact on all of us, from those who struggle directly with Anxiety and Depression, to the family members, friends and colleagues of those directly affected. My approach to dealing with these issues draws from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Interpersonal Psychotherapy, Family Systems Theory and extensive experience working in a mental health clinic.
Trauma
I am skilled and experienced in helping individuals, couples and families heal from the effects of trauma including single-event trauma, intergenerational trauma and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). My approach to trauma work includes the integration of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD).
